The Heterogeneous Satellite constellation based ISR Research Center(HSRC) Constellation-Based Space Surveillance and Reconnaissance Technology was established to develop core foundational technologies for future space surveillance systems that utilize a variety of satellites operating in space. Additionally, the center is dedicated to training specialized experts in the field.
The New Space Era is ushering in a major paradigm shift, characterized by the miniaturization and networking of satellite systems. Reflecting this trend, the center focuses on researching fundamental technologies related to the design and operation of ultra-small heterogeneous satellite constellations.
This initiative, which is part of the National Defense Core Technology Development Program, aims to secure innovative surveillance and reconnaissance capabilities using clusters of heterogeneous satellites equipped with different mission payloads. The project is scheduled to continue through 2028.
